Isolation mode

When you select an object and hit CTRL+1 to get into isolation mode, and the proceed to create a new object like a box, it doesn't show up until you exit the isolation mode. Is there a setting somewhere that will allow the newly created object to be visible inside that isolation mode?

I come from MAX and it has that functionality, and hoping that Maya does too

TIA

Thanks, that works. Just so I understand correctly...the new part being created is being done so invisibly. So If I have Live Surface activated, I cant see what I'm drawing

Am I understanding this correctly?
