Is this a bug? insert edge loop issue

Im really dumbfounded on this issue, I've been using maya for almost a year, and Ive used Insert edge loop for ages, now suddenly it doesnt work correctly 😕

I make a brand new object to eliminate all factors, I click and drag as usual, but the edge loop just snaps to the top/bottom/a side, and I cannot slide it, screencast shows where the loop goes and it wont budge, likewise on a basic cube etc.

I reset the tool settings, checked all other settings that may be relevant, but I cant solve it.

Please tell me Im just missing something stupidly simple? lol

Try resetting your preferences. it should go back to normal.

If I change it to "multiple edge loops" I can set a loop dead centre, but cant slide it on the fly

Changing any other settings does nothing

You could try for now the multicut tool, it does almost the same thing.  hold control.

Yeah, but still, seems like this is a bug then, should I send a bug report to maya?

I haven't seen this reported by anyone but yes, send a report.

Is this 2018.03?

Okay I just updated, 3gb took a while, ...loop problem still persists 😐

Don't use preferences from the last version.

Let us know if is happening on a clean scene.
