Trying to put a texture on one side of building model

When selecting faces on ONE side of model, the opposite

side face of the model also get chosen.

I have read "Disable pick chooser for comonents", followed the

instructions saved then shut down Maya and reopened it again

to have the exact same thing happen again when selecting faces

What's the work around??   I have Maya 2020.4

Is it a symmetrical building?  If so, might the other half be an instance?

Hi,

As others have said check to see whether you have symmetry enabled. (in the status line at the top)

If the issue is that faces behind the ones you are selecting getting selected then you can enable "Camera Based Selection". (which can be accessed in the select tool setting or in the Modeling Toolkit)

Turn it On to only select components on the front of your model. You can also set it to Auto which enables or disables it depending on whether you are in Shaded or Wireframe display.
