I can not select/move/scale my imageplan in maya

hi,

I imported an image but I can't select it at all . I am sure the problem isn't with my laptop because months ago I could easily select it ,the only difference between now and then is that I just removed my old not working battery ,

I tried

resetting the selecting tool,

resetting the preference,

restarting maya

even reinstalling it ,but a newer version, but still I'm having the same problem . I thought about emailing autodesk but I couldn't I don't know exactly why but i suspect its because I am using a student version.

Extra information :

*I can scale it from the channel box

*I can only see the image from the persp view but not from the other three (top Y , front Z , side X)

I know its quite strange to answer my own question LOL but finally I've found a solution and maybe sb will experience the same problem in the future also .

solution :

actually the picture wasn't moving because it was attached to a camera and to make sure of that  open the panel menu<perspective< choose the one which will make u completely able to see everything around<go to top Z view

so you will be able to see the camera then select it and move it and the picture will move too and that type of images is called ( image plane attached to a camera) while the type which you can move freely is called (free image plane) and here is how u can create both

*You can create two types of image planes: a free image plane that is not attached to a camera and that you can select and transform in your scene; or, an image plane that is attached to a camera.

Tip: To render image planes in each view panel, select Show > Image Planesfrom the panel menu.

To create a free image plane

  1. Do either of the following:
    • Select Create > Free Image Plane from the main menu bar.
    • In any orthographic view, select View > Image Plane > Import Image, then browse to select an image.

To edit or position a free image plane, select it in the scene and move or transform it as you like. When you select the free image plane, you can also edit its attributes in the Attribute Editor........*
