How to resize the radius of a cylinder cap subdivision?

Hello!

I am a beginner and trying to learn the basics of modelling in Maya. I have added a cylinder to my scene and increased the subdivision cap to 2.  I want to increase the radius of the subdivision I just added without increasing the radius of the cylinder itself. For that, I have pressed F10 button to select edge mode and then clicked on one of the edges of the subdivision to select the entire subdivision. Then I selected the scale tool to increase the radius of the subdivision, but whenever I try to increase the radius of the subdivision , the radius of the cylinder increases instead. How do I get around to solving this problem?

Select only the edges you like to scale.

I see your edges turn yellow that means you are in soft selection mode. Shortcut B.

Turn that off.

Thank you very much . I indeed had soft selection mode turned on by mistake.
