How does professional make their Reference sheets front and side view?

Currently I've hand drawn my desire 8 characters which everyone of them has a unique feeling. But i am unable to make the side view. I was wondering how i am able to transition my hand drawn drawings into actual perfectly measured reference sheets front and side views. Thank you!

Crop your image in Photoshop that is a square and apply to a square poly plane in Maya and move into position for modeling reference , you can also use image planes , they work well too.

The full step by step will be

1. Take picture of my hand drawn picture.

2. Crop the picture into a square... after that I couldn't understand or follow on what you've instructed me to doI'm completely new to 3d designing i am interested in continuing and turning this into my hobby and someday a profession.

Just look on you tube how to model in Maya or how to use image planes in maya and you'll find a lot of useful videos.

Also if you look in the documentation for Image planes or right here in the forum.

A google search will also provide a lot of results.

Also how to model a car in maya videos is very useful because there's this kind of set up you are looking for.

You're better served by scanning the paper to an image file rather than taking a picture.  This will remove all distortion, lighting, and so on.

The "professional way" usually involves doing everything digitally with a pen tablet.  You can start out with hand sketches if you don't have the high-end tools, but it's good to switch to a strictly digital format as soon as possible.  That way you can explore multiple concepts and just swap out the reference images without any issues from scaling or position.
