How do I organize my Namespaces?

Simple Question, but let me elaborate.

I had been working on a model that would last be rigged and now that it is rigged. I was finally on my way to understanding namespaces, wish I would have watched/learned this sooner.

So every time something would "break" while modeling or rigging, I would find an older version. Take the pieces that worked and merge them. Looking over the namespace editor of my final product the organization/naming is a nightmare. I've tried sorting through and it's just too much (Maya is crashing when I delete/merge while trying to clean/organize). Is there any way I can reorganize all the namespaces to its all under a nice singular root?

I am not having any issues specifically right now with the namespaces, I'm just worried about going forward into animating with my namespaces being such a nightmare to navigate/ look at.

WOW!!!  Those are all namespaces?!  I've never even seen that editor  before.  I detest namespaces.  Even wrote a "removeAllNamespaces" script.  That being said, if it isn't broken, don't fix it.  If your scene file is stable, then leave it alone.  But if you are curious to try a clean up, you can use the "namespace" command to manipulate namespaces.  Like I said, I've never seen that editor before.  Maybe you can clean up with that editor.  But I'm familiar with scripting.  If your goal is to have everything under the root namespace, which is ":", then you can move all the objects to that namespace and delete all the unnecessary remaining namespaces.

I solved my own issue by creating a script that would remove all namespaces after running them through a recurse script to sort through the MANY nested namespaces.

NICE!!!  That's exactly what my "removeAllNamespaces" script does.

I try to understand how you ended up with so many namespaces.

Did you make them by yourself? If so... why script now?

Do they replicate by themselves? How come?
