How can I disable selection box when trying to rotate a sphere

Hello guys nice to meet you all

I'm kinda new to the world of Maya...

As you can see from the image below

I am trying to rotate a sphere but I keep getting the selection box...

What should I click to disable box selection and return back to rotate tool effectively?

Try this two steps -

1) Go to Windows>Setting/preferences>preferences then select selection and on the top left corner of the newly opened windows select edit>restore default setting.

2) That selection tool on the left side of maya that looks like cursor double click on it and hit reset tool hope it works.

Looks like your rotate tool is set to world axis not local axis, that is  object. Double click on the rotate tool to bring up tool settings and make sure your option is set to Object. You can reset it too at the top of the window.
