Having an issue with a Nurbs Primitive modelling

I am currently teaching myself Modelling in Maya for Uni, but i can't seem to figure out how to manipulate a single line of CV's on a Nurbs Primative object. When draw a selection around only the top CV's they all become selected. How do I deselect the rest of the CV's that I don't want to manipulate.

 

I have uploaded the step I am up to, The version of Maya that I am using is Maya 2016.

Hi @theatrebug welcome to the community!

 

    If you wish to deselect something or a group of things all you have to do is hold down shift while clicking or drag selecting the verts/cps/faces etc that you want to deselect. Let me know if this helps!
