I haven't found mention of this elsewhere in the forums.
So, I've just updated to 2020 and I'm having this whack issue where geometry is completely disappearing from the viewport. The shape nodes are still visible in the outliner and if I select these nodes in the outliner, the manipulator appears at the pivot of the object in the viewport but I can't see the object at all. It is, to be blunt, really pissing me off.
I've tried restarting Maya. Restarting my computer. I haven't tried re-installing Maya 2020.
Also, sometimes if I'm modeling and I hit undo, the object completely shrinks and snaps to somewhere near the origin and I can't undo the undo to get the object back to its original size and location. I've only been using 2020 for a few days but these issues are making me mental.
I've been using Maya since 2003 and I know that every new version of Maya as weird bugs but I've never had this kind of problem. I've had lots of other issues but never one involving geometry loss. Has anyone else had this issue?
I'm on a 3 year-old PC running Windows 10 and earlier versions of Maya were and are still working very well for me.
Thanks anyone and everyone for your input.

What is your object? If there are keys on it, you can have auto key able and click "h" and that will make a key for visibility by mistake. Also that would explain the just back to the origin.
I have had the problem of models missing in 2020 (but still visible in the outliner). Question, do you use a 3dconnexion space mouse? I do and when I stripped the driver off everything went fine. It's happened on 2 separate machine and licenses.
If I tried to render anything with the model missing, Arnold would crash.
' Question, do you use a 3dconnexion space mouse? I do and when I stripped the driver off everything went fine.'
Actually, I do have a 3dconnexion space mouse. Unfortunately, I've become quite dependent on it over the years so it's a bummer if that is the problem.
So, did you just strip the drivers and stop using the 3d mouse? Or did you strip and reinstall the drivers?
Yeah, the 3dConnexion driver was definitely the problem. Once I uninstalled it, all the missing geometry was back in the scenes that it'd gone missing from and Redshift stopped crashing. What I decided to try was rolling back to an earlier version of the driver -10.5.15, which is what I had been using until I decided to upgrade to Maya 2020 and then needed to install the most recent 3dconnexion driver to get the mouse to work with 2020. Rolling back drivers means the mouse doesn't work with 2020 but if I can at least use it to finish this small project I have at the moment, that'll be fine. I'll post something on the 3dconnexion boards about it too.
Thanks much for the help.
Hi! I faced the same issue in Maya 2018 and 2020. A just selected all in outliner and disabled smooth preview. It shows. That bug may be repeated if you save hidden geo.
I have the same problem with Maya 2018-2020 and 3Dconnexion SpaceMouse Pro Wireless with the 3DxWare64_v10-6-4_r3119 driver. I've tried to install the new one: 3DxWare64_v10-7-1_r3280 but Maya crashing every 3-5 min with it. I tried to make a fresh and clean installation of Windows 10, reinstall Maya, but it doesn't help at all. So the problem is - drivers.
1. 3DxWare64_v10-6-4_r3119 - geometry disappear from a viewport after save - close - open a file. I see the name of geometry in Outliner but not in a viewport. After uninstalling the driver a geometry is coming back to the viewport.
2. 3DxWare64_v10-7-1_r3280 - geometry never disappear but Maya 2018 - 2020 crushing every 3-5 minutes when I try to use modeling tools like extrude, cut, etc. After uninstalling the driver Maya is stopping crushing.
Hi! I had the same issue with Maya 2022 and Redshift....i enable the option visibility in redshift Options ( Attribute Editor)
I hope this helps.
