Editing the original mesh after boolean?

Hey guys, after reading about this I wanted to try this out to see if I can edit the original mesh after boolean.
is there a way to edit the components of the base mesh after boolean? I can't seem to find a way to do that.
here is what I have done so far
is there a way to edit the components in Maya?
also if anyone knows a plugin that can do that, I would love to know!
or if there is a way to undo the boolean so that I can access the components of the base mesh?
