duplicate multiple copies

this is such a stupid question.. ive been able to copy one stair along a curved path but for some reason i cant figure out how to simply duplicate multiple copies along 1 axis..

duplicate special right?

Yup. For example, the settings below will duplicate a cube five times along the X axis with a spacing of 2 units between them.
