Deformation of Mesh when Modeling

Deformation of Mesh when Modeling

I am using maya 2018 and haven't used it since maya 2016. Not sure if this is some new setting I am unaware of of a bug but it seems whenever I try to manipulate faces/vertexes/edges, some very odd morphing happens. In the example, I moved the selected face outward on the x axis. Normally, it should keep its square shape but instead, makes some odd shapes. It is like the object cannot be manipulated beyond the size of the object. I have deleted history on the object but the problem persists.

Hi @Anonymous and welcome to the community!

Does this happen every time you create a cube from scratch and try to move a face?

You can try opening the Move Tool settings and hit Reset Tool.

I'm almost positive I've seen this before but I'm drawing a blank trying to remember what causes it Smiley Frustrated

That said, resetting the move tool should solve this. As well please try creating another basic cube and then try to move the face.

Please let me know if anything changes!
