Complex fill hole?

Hi !

I'm starting to work with Maya and got a problem after cutting an object which I imported:

Bildschirmfoto 2019-11-30 um 12.00.00.pngWhat you can see on the left is basically a cut hollow cylinder.

With keyframing the cut-tool I want to achive a sort of build up later.

My problem is though that I do not know how to fill the "holes" that appear between the model boundaries.

If I work with the fill-hole tool, it just fills the whole circle rather than complete the open model edges.

Thank you very much!

I don't know if there is another workflow for this kind of build up animation or if I am on the right path... 🙂

Best option —- remodel the right way or....

first fill holes on the center gap, then...

fill holes on wide gap, that might not work , mesh is bad.

Delete unnecessary edges and bridge manually .

good luck.

Thank you very much for you answer.

So there is no way to do buildup animations with imported models other than spending an immense time in manually trying to fix these cut voids?

In my case I build a relatively complex model in a CAD app, which I want to animate in a way 3D-printed parts are manufactured...

Any animation can be done in Maya even with a model like this.

there’s always some cleaning necessary from Cad models.
