Cannot combine

I cannot combine and it said no skinning found to apply to the combined mesh. It's an error. Please help me fix this... :')

 

[Error: line 0: No skinning found to apply to the combined mesh]

Does this really happen on two new created cubes?

I have never seen this error before.

Have you tried to delete your prefs? Something is messed up.

pref? No no there is nothing related about them. It just something about combine and.. skinning like that? Even I don't know it means

I mean delete the preference folder in mydocuments... That will reset maya.

If you go to mesh>combine and then click on the white box it will open up a window with some options.

One of the options is a checkbox labeled "combined skinning".

If you turn it off then combining should work properly.

Once you change it in that menu it should automatically fix the button on your shelf, so you won't need to go into that menu each time. 

 

I have no idea how that option would have gotten turned on though.
