Can't make divisions for an extrusion

I'm running Maya 2020 on Windows 10. I'm super new and have only been working in Maya for two weeks.

I'm trying to model a toy robot for a class project, and ran into an issue. I want to make divisions on the robot's T-brow shape, and then extrude the middle section to make the lower part of the T. The problem is, I change the number of divisions I want, but it doesn't do anything. Can someone help me figure out what I'm doing wrong?

Hi!

This division attribute controls the division of the extruded part only.

If you want to subdivide the original object before the extrusion you need to do this manual with Multi-Cut tool, or

Edit Mesh -> Add Division.

Then use extrude on one ore more faces and Translate the Extrusion (you can also add further divisions if needed).

Edit:

 I checked your scene and changing this value has no effect based on your edit history.

Just delete the history and start new as suggested above.
