Append Polygon Tool - double sided poly

Hi there.

when I use Append Polygon tool with all default settings, the polygon is single sided. Is it possible to either set the append tool to double sided or to make a single sided polygon to a double sided polygon in Maya?
Just noticed that "Extrude" edge, also delivers a single sided polygon.

Turning on "create mesh single side" on/off in prefs or "double sided" in Attributes, has no effect either.

Cheers.

Hi!

The double sided or single sided state is set in the mesh attributes for display and rendering and will affect all faces that belong to an object, if not overwritten by a global view mode (which also affects all faces).

1. You say you get single sided faces when using the Append Polygon or Extrude Edge tool on a double sided object?

2. Do your faces all have the same material and not maybe new faces a transparent one?

3. What Maya Version are you using?

Could you please upload an scene showing 1 object with mixed display/render behavior (single sided and double sided)

Hi mspeer

I am sorry but I cannot recreate the problem, I have tried many times now. I should have saved the file, from which I took the screenshot.
Yes I saw the problem twice, once where I extruded an edge from a polygon square, and once where I extruded edge or used append polygon on a polygon.

Now I have tried to get Maya (LT 2017) to recreate the issue, but no luck..

1. Yes, as shown on the screenshot. A double sided poly with shown one sided appended polygon.

2. No, standard setup with standard material, grey phong.

3. Maya LT 2017, have seen this also in Maya LT 2016.

I guess we are not getting any further on this, until I can recreate or problem ascent again.
