Wine Goblet Model

I am still relatively new to modeling in maya and I was wondering how I should go about modeling this wine goblet. At first I tried cv curves+revolve, but I wasnt sure how to get the sharper edges after that. Is there a better way? Any help would be great!

Starting out with a curve/revolve to get the initial shape should be fine. After that you can convert it to a polygon object for easier editing. In Maya you can select certain edges and make those edges hard (Normals->Harden Edge), which will give the sharp edged faceted look in the pic.
