Why material looks different in viewport and in arnold render

Hi,

I wanted to try make metallic material with scratches and scattered light refraction. But when I make the material and then apply the textures it looks usually how I want it in the material preview or in viewport but the arnold render almost completely ignores the textures and the material look smooth. Same for the glass, the glass is almost non transparent with just only little of the sratches but in the viewport it looks transparent with visible scratches. Why is that?

Thanks for advice.

Hi!

Different renderer = different results.

For further help, please upload a scene-file + textures.

Ok so here is the scene. I also upload the Picture of hypershade preview and that is exactly as I want it to be, but the render is different.

Hi!

Arnold is a "physical correct" renderer and the renders are correct based on your settings.

Here now the problems:

1. You did not disable Arnold -> Opaque for the shapes

2. You connected the Alpha out of a file node with a JPG texture, but a JPG does not contain an Alpha

Further settings depend on what you want to achieve, like using Geometry -> Thin Walled or Opacity.

Also, the Hypershade window gives you a preview that has a great light setup, as well as something for it to reflect. Make sure you have a good reflection HDRI and/or things for it to reflect, to make it match the preview more closely.
