Why I cant Cut/Sew my UV map????

So I'm trying to make Revolver Model but Maya "As Usually BTW" Says **** YOU YOU CANT!!! and gives me Syntax error whenever I try to Cut or Sew or Create UV Coordinate Map...

Honestly if you want to charge +200€ per month for this then at least make sure that it's not a bugged pile of garbage...

Not enough info about the context the error happens, probably because you don't have free (cut) edges.

Try selecting the object and apply the default AutomaticMapping to see if it works at all.

Then select created uv-shells and apply Unfold, to see if THIS works.

If this also works, then it is all the matter about figuring out where you should cut new seams, and which existing seams to MoveAndSew.. then apply Unfold+Optimize once again.

I can't and that's the problem I can't use mapping or cut/sew/stitch on it because it gives me this error no matter what I do even after reloading

It is hard to tell what is the cause just from simple "can't use".

Just for the sake of practicing, try uv-map another piece of geometry, or any other any poly primitive - if it works there, then should work on your models too. However, if the former works, and the latter still fails, post zippend MA scene file.

I like the idea of trying to load a completely NEW different scene, and trying to see if  UV cut/sew works. If you get the syntax error still, maybe you should reset preferences in Maya. Maybe go to plugins and disable Unfold 3d plugin and reload it. If UV sew/cut does work on the new scene then the problem is with the old scene.

Always make a backup, don't be afraid to save!

As I've said, not possible to determine the cause from "can't" alone. Post the piece of geometry in question in a zipped MA file.

And, before you post, you might wish to get familiar with Modeling>Mesh>Cleanup feature. Read the Help about non-manifold geometry, which you need to enable, to check whether the geo is ok, otherwise uv-mapping *might* fail.
