UV mapping problem

Hello. I am having a problem UV mapping my mesh and I hope someone can help me solve it. I followed a tutorial on youtube. The error I'm getting is, I have a mesh That has triangles everywhere. How did they get there? Good question. I was modeling the trigger of the gun and a step was to triangulate and then to quadrangulate. When I finished the modeling and went to UV maps, hit automatic and a big ball of fuzzy mess appears. In addition to that I get another error, "Mesh has non-manfold UVs". Also, during the modeling I extruded a part on the back of the gun that may have not been moved (says another video on youtube as I was trying to find a fix). I tried to follow that video and I have no idea what I was doing. So I need help asap because this project is due tomorrow at midnight. Thanks for any reply that is helpful. I will upload the Maya file for anyone who wants to take a look.

select your mesh, Menu: Mesh->Cleanup! then delete those highlight faces and rebuild them.
