UV Editor not displaying UVs.

Hey there,

I'm hoping someone here will be able to help me with an issue I'm receiving.

For my school project, we have to model and texture an environment. This was perfectly fine up until a few days ago. I don't believe I touched anything, but for no reason that I can find my UV's stopped displaying in the UV Editor.

I've tried reinstalling/repairing Maya, uninstalling and reinstalling completely, resetting the preferences, even exporting as an .fbx, .obj, and re-importing. Nothing seems to work or fix the issue.
I'm using Maya 2017 for this, and opening my file in an earlier version also doesn't help with the issue.

The weird thing is that if I make a new mesh, the UV Editor will work with it.
This causes an issue for me, though, as I don't have the time to completely remodel, UV, and texture every little thing.

I've attached an image that shows off the issue.

A quick note: On the image Isolate Select is on. I tried switching it off/on/off/on/etc. unfortunately this didn't help one bit.

(Also if someone knows the email address for support, please let me know as I'm having difficulty finding it.)

In the MEL input try typing:

ogs -reset

This will reset your viewport and it worked for me to make my UV's visible again.

Hey there,

dont know if there are still people running into this issue.. I had the same problem where the uvs didnt show. When i tried the work around suggested by Jlantonio, to create a new file and import the corrupt scene, that the uvs appeared as long as i didnt activate "shaded display(with texture maps)". Then i remembered i was using a 4k texture map on some objects, so i resized the and the uvs reappeared. I'm guessing it has something to do with the available texture map memory or something... I'm not an expert, but this fixed it for me, hope this helps anyone else running into this.

cheers

Hello! I struggled with my UVs not showing up for a while trying random tricks and most times I could not get them to work. But I finally found a full proof way to get the UVs to show up. You can only do this if the mesh is in the same world space as before.

If you have another Maya scene where the UVs are working. Export that model and import it into the scene where they are not working anymore. Select the old mesh of when they are working and shift select the new mesh of where they are not working. Then go to Mesh> Transform attribute.

I attached an image of the settings to use. You have to make sure world is selected in sample space.

And then the UVs should transfer over!

This worked with me when I was retopologizing a mesh and the UVs suddenly stopped showing up for some reason and I tried all of the tricks in the above comments. I still couldn't get it to work until I remembered I can do this. I wanted to share this in case it helps someone.

Another cool trick using transform attribute is that instead of selecting world, you can select UVs. And when you select this option and you have the same UVs in two meshes but completely different meshes, you can get one mesh to turn into the shape of another one!transform.PNG

Hi!

For some reason it will not show multiple objects selected in the UV editor.  All I did was combine the objects.

What version of Maya are you using?  I had this problem a few years ago, but it was fixed with subsequent software updates.  In the UV editor try Frame Selection, under view, if for some reason your uv's were translated and just for giggles, see what happens if you select Normalize or Unitize.  (Anyway, sorry to read that you are having this problem.)

Hey, I am in Maya 2020 and am having the exact same issue. Were you ever able to figure it out?
