Unable to export a working .dae file.

Hello,

I purchased a 3D model of an airplane and only changed the UV Mapping. If I open this file in Maya, I get: 

Errors have occurred while reading this scene that may result in data loss.

Please check the Script Editor for details.

This is no problem because the model looks fine in Maya. But when I want to export this to .dae it creates an corrupted file. I am unable to open this file with anything. When I try to preview this .dae file in my finder it says that it's probably damaged or has an unrecognizable file structure. The problem is the model itself because in the same scene I was able to export a simple cube to .dae and it worked.

What I already tried:

• Export without UV Mapping
• Fill al the holes in the model
• Reduce the amount of vertices. 
• Converting with external converters

I hope someone can help me 🙂

This is not good, does this message appear after your edit or with the original file?

Cleaning up the scene is the only advice i can give, so far.

I already cleaned up everything. I downloaded two more simple free models and it has the same problem. It seems that whatever I download is unable to be exported as .dae. If I export the models as FBX they work..
