Symmetry not working

Hey I've merged two halves of a model and I'm sure that the thing is symmetrical but when I try to select vertices or faces it doesn't work. I've also freezed and deleted history and centered pivot before the mirror geometry +merge edges and after but it doesn't work

Should I merge the geometry vertice by vertice? Instead of merging the edges.could that make it not symmetrical?

The only thing I havnt tried is restarting my pc.
Ive also messed around and reset my selection settings and the symmetry settings so I have no idea what's going on.

Is maya really that buggy? Also I'm using 2016

Hi!

First there are 2 corrupted edges at your geometry. This should be fixed.

To make your object fully symmetrical:

Create one closed seam edge and use this for mode Symmetry Topology or remove one half and mirror again then other modes work too.
