Shading inconsistencies on certain faces

Hello,

I am working on a project that involves animating some models off teeth that I was provided which would then be exported into other applications like Unity. In the process of this project we found that the models had to be modified to fit some new specifications. I ran into some issues that I am having some difficulty solving and finding information on.

The first issue was there were parts of the models that are hard edges that are rendering like they are a smoothed surface such as in the photo provided below. I have tried applying "Harden Edge" to that specific portion of the mesh  but that does not resolve the issue. This issue also persists if the model is exported out into Unity.Tooth_Error_2.PNG

The other issue is there were parts of another model that were raised portions of part of a model that needed to be flattened out to match with the rest of its surrounding faces. However the shading in both the viewport and the exported version of the model still present this shading. The example of this issue is shown below.

I have tried a few methods to resolve this which include:

- Softening the edges

- Deleting the trouble faces and refilling the holes.

- Using the Clean-up tool

None of these methods had any real significant effect on how the models are presented. These models are also to be used for blend shapes so deleting or adding more vertices to the topology should be avoided if possible otherwise I have to remake the morphing object as well.

Thank you for any help that can provided on this as it's been an issue that has been bothering me for a while but I haven't been able to find a clean solution to.

Try to unlock the normal first.

Mesh Display -> unlock Normals.
