Right click draws red line instead of menu pop-up

Sometimes when entering Maya 2016 my right click doesn't bring up the standard menu but instead draws this red line (see picture). After I restart my computer it returns to normal...sometimes. I'm newer to Maya so I apologize if this is a dumb question!

Edit: Realized I never asked a question hah. So how do I get my right click to return to normal and bring up the standard menu instead of drawing this red line? Much thanks!

You can go to Preferences on the very lower right of your screen and click the Gear & a running man icon (PREFERENCES)

or go to  WINDOWS > SETTINGS / PREFERENCES > PREFERENCES 

Go to EDIT

- RESTORE DEFAULT SETTINGS  


For you to restore maya to Default Settings and refresh the system
