problem with mirroring poly plains

so I have 4 new poly plains which I've got exactly as I want them.  Now I would like to mirror them to the other side of the skull cap.  However, they are not mirroring like the other pieces have.  I've taken 3 screenshots to show what happens.  Basically when I attempt to mirror a poly the piece doesn't show and the gizmo appears directly on the base grid:

Its hard to see what is actually going on, yet it looks like you have changed the pivot point on those.  Is there anyway I see you file so I can test on my end?  So all the other geo mirrored just fine?  and just these 3 that did not?  try one at a time and instead of world space use object space and make sure the pivot point in centered to the center of your cap thingy.  I will test on my end to see if there is anything aloof with this as of Maya 2017 Update 3 as well.

I look forward to your reply (you can PM me a link if you like)

Actually I think I did just figure out what was causing this issue.  Apparently I had selected Cut Geometry in my mirror tool settings.  When I unchecked that things seemed to work again as expected.
