Possibly corrupted file.

For the past few weeks my almost finished maya project has been entirely unresponsive. When I open it the project is empty, untitled and eternally buffering - it can only be closed via task manager or a full restart. When I attempt to import it into a new scene the result is the same. I've tried in countless ways to fix the issue but have had no luck.

Today I simply moved my Maya folder and attempted to open the project again - this time I received a pop-up "This file does not exist". After looking up different methods to deal with it I simply moved my project file to a new, separate folder and attempted to open it through maya. This time it would either freeze/ buffer, display the n/a pop-up or, in some cases display an error. // Error: file: C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2026/scripts/others/performFileAction.mel line 64: No translator found

I have searched about this error but not found any solutions.

Additional info:

My file type is an .mb as I am a beginner and did not know about .ma until the issue started. My project contains MASH that I 'learnt' from a quick tutorial. I cannot restore any previous versions and I do not have admin settings as I work on a university computer - the pc is industry standard so there shouldn't be any issues in that department. The last thing I did on the file before it no longer opened was UV editing.

Please help if you know anything!

Most likely got corrupted. Better to rebuild immediately in .ma for your  school assignment.

Good luck.
