OBJ import/export adds triangles

I am using 3D Max 2016 on a Train Model, but I need to import it into Maya but each time I export and import form Max to Maya my geometry that makes this train becomes very triangulated and almost unusable. I am using Maya 2015 and I have Maya 2016.
Originally my original template model for my train is 3D Max. I have more skilled using Max than Maya.
I have tried using almost every setting in .fbx and .obj to export from 3D Max and import in Maya. Even the settings in Maya - Mesh-Quad don't help that much.
Please make a add on or plugin for Maya and Max to be more compatible and or dosn't triangulate please. I have enjoyed using both but this one issue is causing me setbacks.
