Non-manifold UVs even after cleanup?

Using Maya 2017 currently. Imported my decimated mesh from Zbrush into Maya. I can't Optimize my UVs at all. It gives me a non-manifold error. Even if I do a cleanup, and it doesn't show any errors anymore, it still gives me the error. Doing an auto unwrap just makes the non-manifold UVs appear again.

What can I do?

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for posting! 🙂 Can you tell me what version of Maya you are working with? If you select Help > About Maya from the top menu it will tell us exactly what version (and update) you have installed. Our most current version is Maya 2018.4

Any chance you could post your file on here for us to take a look at? If you'd rather, you can send it to me in a private message. Here are a few things I would try:

  1. Close down Maya, and install the most current version of Maya if it is not already installed
    1. Here's an easy guide to locate and install the latest updates: Where to find Updates and Add-ons for Maya
  2. Reset your Maya Preferences to Default - this is not automatically done when installing updates/new versions.
  3. If the file is still not opening, try importing it into a new scene
    1. Try exporting it as an FBX, and then bringing it in OR
    2. Import the original scene into a blank scene (either by dragging and dropping into the viewport, or by navigating through File > Edit)

Thanks again for being a part of our community! Let me know if the problem persists after these suggestions 🙂 Happy to keep working together until we figure it out!
