modeling with perspective from concept art

Hi everyone,

i'm actually work on my final school project for the end of my study, i've found a nice concept art with specific perspective to work on and i always have the same problem of workflow.

i never succefully reproduce the perspective of a concept art with camera matching so i alway try to directly modeling and deform mesh to match with the pictures and i know it's not a correct solution,

so i wanted to ask if someone have good tips, or what's the good solution,

i don't know if i'm need to modeling mesh with approximate dimension in a camera with normal perspective and then i place it on scene with the perspective of the concept and adapt mesh or simply make everything on a scene with the perspective of the picture.

also i can't find some tutorial for perspective matching from concept, only from real life pictures, and sometimes 2d artist not only use 1 perspective for them works, and it's still tricky to me because a lot of element are not matching when i reproduce them in 3d so what's yours opinion about that and how you're working on a concept art to translate it in 3d?

thanks for your's answer and have a good day ! 🙂

hello,

Your camera perspective cannot a 2d drawing for a simple reason. The guy who drawn the modelsheet is a human. His perspective should not be perfect, it stands for a representation of the reality.

So as a modeler, I roughly use the modelsheet for the broad volume/silhouette then I put it on the side for further details.

let say you need to draw a portrait of someone in the street, you will probably not put your paper on his face. You need to practice your eye to gain accuracy. The director may not want to have the exact same dimensions but a model that respect the spirit of the project.

By the way there is a SCRIPT that would help
