Maya UV editor is strange...

Hello guys.

I'm trying to set up an UV on my plane, but when I open the UV Editor and select the plane, this happens:

It reminds me the Soft Modification tool. But why is this happening the UV Editor?

Soft selection works on polygons, edges, vertices, and UVs...and will display in the UV editor. Just hit the 'b' key to turn it off if you don't want it.
