Maya to Mudbox- Necessity

Good morning,

I was wondering when modeling a U.S. coins in Maya using a simple cylinder with 2 caps and no subdivisions, then remove all the edges from the center on both sides, make 2 free form cuts across the center on both cap sides then on the actual coin side make 4 free form cuts thus keeping all areas quads. Then to export to Mudbox for stamping and sculpting is it necessary to use any of the smooth tools before making a UV map in order to maintain the proper dimensions of the coin?

Hi!

I am not sure if i understand the question right, but simply create your object in Maya and then transfer it to Mudbox. Just try it out.
