Maya Scene Opens with missing Objects

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hello,

I was recently working on a scene and everything seemed fine until I saved it and opened it later on in the day.

When I opened the scene a large number of objects are missing. When I checked previous versions and autosaves the problem persists back through multiple days of work saved.

I have been having issues with the clock on my PC displaying the incorrect time randomly and I don't know if this could be an issue.

I am running Windows 10 and Maya 2018

My scene file is 45mb and may be preventing me from sharing it here

Please help.

Hi!

45MB should be no problem to upload , if you ZIP the scene if should also be a lot smaller.

My Savior!

Thank you so much! Is there anything you can recommend that I can do in the future to avoid this issue?

Hi

There have been some invalid values at the UVs, but this never happened never to me, so i can't say what's causing it.

Hi!

The provided file is corrupted, it seems it was only partially written to disk and the end of the file is missing.

I am sorry, but the scene can't be recovered if important scene-data is missing.

I was only able to recover one animal, looks like a gazelle, if you need this please tell me and I can upload it.

To prevent data loss like this:
1. Do incremental saves (as often as suitable) and from time to time save or export in an additional format (like FBX or OBJ).
2. Delete history if not needed anymore (on individual or all objects).
3. Create backups.

Hi!

The object I was able to recover, is the high poly version of the gazelle.

It seems that this is one of the objects you started with. As the complete history is corrupted other objects can't be recovered and I guess you build the low poly version later.

The file is too large to be attached here so I will provide a download link in a private message instead.

Adriana, looks fine here the amphitheater. no green shaders, just reapply a new Lambert and don't forget to protect your file from corruption  .

The most important was right in the middle, near the half cylinders, so I guess I've lost it, bruh at least the others are safe, thank you so much

Yes just pick up from here, I would also recommend starting modeling things to scale, is a good practice for getting used in professional work.

Good luck.

Sorry but the render still does not work, it does not show anything, like there is no light in the scene (there is, of course)

You didn't say you were trying to render, so just apply a shader and a light and render or explain in more detail how you are setting up your render.👍

Also light has decay depending on scene scale.

Just adding a simple skydome light from maya and hd 1080 resolution with the persp cam, I also tried rendering a simple sphere but nothing shows up, it's all black like there is no light.
