Maya: How to export interactive groom to another file

Hello, I have made a groom (hair, beard, eyelashes, etc.) for a character and would like to move that to another file. I tried exporting the cache as an ABC file but when I loaded it into the other file it would show up in the render. Am I doing something wrong or is there another way to transfer the groom? Thanks.

What about referencing in the other file?

You can transfer the groom. Open up your model that you want to transfer to, then either import or reference in the groom file. From there you can transfer the groom onto the new model: https://help.autodesk.com/view/MAYAUL/2024/ENU/?guid=GUID-0F5E5E1D-2C1A-4B16-A402-76F9EAA3FB03
