Maya 2018- Non-Manifold geometry Issues

I am having the worst time trying to figure out why Maya thinks these verts are Non-Manifold.

I am fairly new to modeling as we didn't cover it for my degree, but looking at Maya's description of Non-Manifold I do not see how these verts could be NMG.

This is what I see when I do a Cleanup>Select>Non-manifold

The model is attached here.

My sincere apologies if this is baseline, but I am at a wall with this issue as its really slowing down all production.

Hi!

1. Create "usable" UV's for your object first, then most of your NMG is gone (UV > Automatic is enough for this).

2. For the rest have a look from inside your model, there are indeed "wrong" unnecessary faces.

(3. Don't forget to delete history from time to time)

Thanks!

So the yellow dots are faces which I was able to easily find and fix, but I still dont understand the green ones.  After fixing the faces I ran cleanup and it got rid of them, same as when I did UV as you prescribed.

Thanks again.

Hi,

The green ones are UVs. (which is why @mspeer suggested recreating your UVs)

You would need to open the UV editor to see these. It probably means you have UV shells that are connected only by a single UV vertex.

Maya is not particularly fussy about non-manifold UVs except when it comes to UV unfolding and layout and that is the reason mesh cleanup highlights non-manifold UV issues.

Couldn't figure out how to delete my post (notice I was posting on an un-related topic) so I'm leaving this comment.

This was very annoying, but creating an automatic UV did the trick!  Thank you!
