Invert Selection After Extrude No Longer Works

Hi Everyone, over the past year or so I've tried to find a solution to this problem on my own with no luck. Hopefully, someone out there has a better idea...

When extruding faces of an object I often   Ctrl > Shift > I    to invert the extruded face selection and delete what's leftover. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to do that for a while because I get the following error below.

// Error: file: C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2019/scripts/startup/invertSelection.mel line 92: No object matches name: polyExtrudeFace3.f[*] //

I've seen similar posts about a bug in the invertSelection.mel script that's loaded with Maya, but those refer to unintended faces being deleted, not the script refusing to work. I delete my prefs folder and tried making the faces a quick-select set then selecting the inverse, but both of those didn't help.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

JRT

Any thoughts on what

you are right the shortcut does not work. what you can do instead is to to shift drag a selection rectangle around the whole object which inverts the selection as well and works in that case.

Hi @_sebastian_f , that solution is so simple and straight forward that it never crossed my mind, thanks. It also helps to know the problem is not limited to just me.

This would be considered a bug for that particular script right?

Thanks again,

JRT
