As far as I can tell, if I CLTR-SHIFT-D (Duplicate Special) a particular mesh and create an instance, no other object can then snap to the vertices of the original mesh, or any instances I create of it. I can reproduce this every time, Maya 2023.3. This seems like a huge bug, especially for someone who is using the snapping features and using modular assets for game environment modelling. Doing a regular duplicate doesn't cause this issue, but obviously that isn't a solution as instances are used for a very good reason.
