I need to reset UV's

I was in the middle of unwrapping my object but messed up in the middle and didn't notice until it was too late. I was unable to undo what I had done and want to reset the UV. However everywhere I've looked just tells me to delete the UV's, which I did. But now my object does not have any UV's to work with at all.
Is there anyway to just start from the beginning with an object without recreating it.

Hi, i am pretty sure you can just start over from a projection or automap.
Select your model , even if have no uv at all,
go in the main menu, find UV, search for "automatic"
This will make new automatic uvs for the object, you will have to work on it!

Thank you! That helped solve my problem
However I do have a follow up question, it looks like I'm unable to move anything I select in UV mode. It moves all within a 'shell' of whatever I have selected.

I reset my Maya preferences completely but it still does this, what do I have to disable?problem.png

If you move only the UV, in the uv editor,
it should not move the vertex of the model, try deleting history  ("Edit delete by type") and freeze model

It doesn't move the actual model itself. I just showed both as an example.
When in UV mode, I can't move anything outside the initial shape it began
with. I can only move vertices within the shape. Deleting the history
didn't do anything.

it should not.
but i dont see in your selection the dots of the uv selections.
look like you are moving the shell. Hold right and select UV, in the selection,
reset the project tool too, just go in the upper menu and hit the square on the right of "automatic"
then edit and  edit e reset settings, save and reopen maya too.

I'm not sure where you're talking about and it's still not working.

Even when selecting UV vertices, I can only move it towards other surrounding vertices. problem.png

Hi!

@Anonymous

Check your settings.

You have several constraints enabled, like Transform Constraint, just set this to "Off".
