How to obtain the principal curvatures across NURBS surfaces?

I'm a researcher who is randomly generating shapes with NURBS. These shapes will ultimately be 3D printed and given to subjects to touch/handle. As part of the experiment, I need to know the principal curvatures at different points along the NURBS surfaces.
Is it possible to obtain this in Maya, either in the GUI or with python scripting? Is it possible to do this in other software or programmatically?
