How to mirror duplicate?

I can see the user
1. CTRL + G : group
2.CTRL + SHFT + D : duplicate special

but when I do it I have to do one final step to mirror the duplicate
Input negative value in corresponding axis in scale

Users duplicate is already on the opposite side, I did not see him input a negative value in scale for X, why is that and how can I do the same?

In this one the duplicate special did not need be grouped
How do you mirror the duplicate selection without having to input a negative value in scale?

in the optionbox of duplicate special you can set a value to scale.
it will remember this value. very often you will mirror across x axis so there is no need to always set it.
