How do i create a wall (splines)...please?

Hey there! Just a quick question!

I want to make walls... but i need to do it with splines (they have curves and such). 

So i use the EP curve tool to draw the wall (the path), and now i would need to extrude it along "y".

It should be easy, but i cant get it working...

All videos i see are about curves and such.. but all i need is to extrude the spline to make a wall, just as in C4D.

Also, how do you do an inset in Maya? When i use extrude-offset, it creates unwanted geometry.... O_o

1. Surfaces -> Extrude (Style: "Distance")

2. What is "extrude-offset"?

3. Wat do you mean with "inset"?

Please upload a scene-file and maybe some images for further help.
