I'm creating a model using what I think are pretty standard methods, mostly booleans, clean up, and subdivision modeling. But something I'm doing seems to be creating hundreds of groups in the outliner which don't seem to do anything in the scene. Many of the groups contain a grayed-out "transform" or a grayed out mesh.
It seems like I can just delete them without causing any noticeable problems, but I'm wondering what could have created them in the first place, and how can I avoid creating them in future?
Also is there any way to automatically delete the ones that aren't doing anything, to make my life easier?
(for context I'm new to Maya but I've been modeling in Blender for a few years)
