Hi

This is quite annoying when this happens.

When I turn symmetry on and use multi cut tool to cut my mesh it always joins the edges which I dont want.

Before it never used to do this and I perfectly had two separate lines on each side.

Please help me

way 1 - try to work on half of your mesh after done make it mirror or duplicate by scale -1

way 2 - make an edge in mid of your mesh to maya know your middle line of mesh . then use symmetry by topology and select your mid edge and its mirrored now

YOU NEED AN EDGE IN MID ! Smiley Very HappySmiley Tongue

When you use multi cut :

By holding Shift  you can see mid of edge . black colored

by holding control you can make a edge loop

and holding shift then ctrl : make loop in mid

holding ctrl then shift : make loop in 10% , 20 % , ...
