Grid Snapping confusion

Hey everyone,

I am trying to use the snap to grid function just for the begin of my polygon. So I am using the "X" button to begin, but after I release the button, it insist on snapping to the grids. I don't remember having this problem in earlier versions of Maya. Any of you have an idea why?

Hi!

You can temporarily activate snapping by using a hotkey (before starting using a tool). This temporary snapping will be released after using the current tool (left mouse button).

It's the same for Maya 2016 up to Maya 2018.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. That is exactly what I'm trying to do. But the snap tool is still activated after I release the hotkey. Its stays active until I release the mouse button. 

So, the "temporary" part does not work in my case.

Correct. You can't toggle this feature during an action.
