Grid Options not activated on startup

Hi,

When I startup Maya the default grid settings are on. When I open Grid Options my settings are still there and if I need to click apply to activate them. Is there a way to make Maya not only remember the grid settings but also apply them on startup?

Thanks!

do other preferences change as well after restarting maya? maybe some write protection in the settings folder? there is no special magic behind the grid settings. once set they should stay until you change them.

No, grid settings/colors are the only settings that don't stay. How can I change the write protection for the settings folder?

that would be a system setting. if you are on windows rmb > properties check attributes under the general tab and have a look into the security tab as well. in case of ios i don´t know. but would surprise me somehow when this would apply to only the color settings i.e.

Note:

You can also change the color of the axes, grid lines and numbers, and subdivision lines in theColors window (Window > Settings/Preferences > Color Settings). Go to the Inactive tab and then the Modeling category to find these color options. Here you can also change the color of the X-, Y-, and Z-axis that appear in the Origin and View axes.

When you customize Maya, your new settings are stored in user preference files, so that each time you open Maya, your settings are used instead of the Maya default settings. If you delete a preference file, Maya uses the default settings.

Saving your preferences saves any changes you make to colors, hotkeys, hotbox marking menus, size and position of windows, and any items defined in the Preferences window.

To save preferences

  1. Select File > Save Preferences.
    Note:

Maya does not detect if you are out of disk space when saving preferences. If this occurs, your preferences may become corrupt or irretrievable. Ensure that your hard drive has space available to save preferences. If the disk runs out of space, free up some space before exiting the application.

Most preferences are saved as text files of MEL commands.

Maya stores preferences files in the following path:

Windows                                               XX  ( Or Maya 2016 )

  • \Users\<username>\Documents\maya\2015 or XX\en_US\prefs

  • \Users\<username>\Documents\maya\2015 or XX -x64\en_US\prefs

Thank you David. I checked in the Color Settings and the grid colors are already set to my custom ones, just not showing in the viewport. I made a picture tobetter explain the problem:maya02.jpg
