FBX wont export properly -- Material Error

Here's the situation:

I have a scrunched-up rug that I modeled using nCloth. Duplicated the mesh, deleted History, froze transforms.

But when I am exporting it as an FBX I get an error saying: "Warning: Unable to export some material(s) (1)"

The thing is... I just have the default Lambert shader on the mesh. I tried deleting the shaders, attaching new ones, etc. But every time I export it gives me the same issue.

When I import that FBX into any other scene or program (Substance, UE4, etc) it just imports as a flat rectangular plane. So... its technically exporting, but just not with any of its shape or depth.

BUT If I export a cube or a cylinder or something from the same scene, same shader, it exports perfectly fine.

Is there something I'm missing? Anyone know?

Thanks in advance!

Imo, uncommon, indeed. See how many shapes are under the rug's transform - you can see it in AttrEd, pay attention to number of the shape tabs. Or open it's graph in NodeEd.

If it still gives no clues, then post zipped MA file.

I've had this error before, I don't know what exacly causes it, but it only happend to me when I use the FX menu for deformation.
Since you duplitcate the mesh and delete history I assume you only need a stationary mesh. So here is the workaround for this:

1) select the mesh
2) use "Export Selection" Command
3) export it as "OBJexport" (make sure that you have the "objexport.Bundle" activated in the Plugin Manager)
4) reimport into new Maya scene
5) export FBX again.

I hope this helps!
