Extrude polys as a group

Hi,

I m trying to follow a modeling tutorial in maya and I m seeing some differences between how my extrude tool works for a cylinder vs what I see in the tutorial. When I try to extrude a group of faces they actually extrude individually, creating smaller subfaces for each of them. In the tutorial when they extrude them they extrude as a group , making a nice edge around the whole group. Is there some setting that I need to set in order to extrude as a group (btw - using Maya 2015 LT).

The attached pix show my extrude (1st and 2nd pic) , versus the tutor extrude in the 3d pic.

Thanks !

Hello,

I have tried to imitate it, is that correct?

Yeah, that's what I would like to happen, and for some reason after I deleted the original mesh and recreated it pretty much the same way I can now get the effect that I originally wanted. So now it works fine.

Any ideas what could have influenced it to extrude individually before and suddenly work ok afterwards?

I think you did "keep faces together" disabledtest.png

Thanks much !

While it wasn't exactly like that (turns out we don't have that option there in Maya 2015 LT) , your post got me to google this option for maya LT 2015 and it turns out it's in the channel box for the operation actually.

All makes sense now - thanks again.
