DisplacementProblem

This is probably something I am overlooking, but I can't figure it out. I have a cube with a brick displacement map on it. It renders in Arnold as one would expect. If I add another object, in this case a sphere, I lose the displacement on the cube. See files attached. I have tried it in Maya 2018 and 2020. I am on a PC running windows 10. Any ideas what I am not seeing?

You didn't see the warning in the Arnold log.

00:00:42 3758MB WARNING | [disp] /wallNew/wallNewShape: padding is at least 10x smaller than it should be! given disp_padding: 0, recommended: 0.234954655

You have to set the bounds padding on wallNewShape.

Thanks Stephen. Did not see that warning, but why does it only matter if some other object is added to the scene? Otherwise it displaces properly.

I am trying to apply a displacement map exported form Zbrush and importing to Renderman. However I am getting a weird artefacts where there gaps everywhere. The map is a 32bit exr and looks completely fine in the file. I have also put the UDIM padding in there too and its still funky. I have tried both scalar and vector, they produce the same result.
