Any way to save Maya's viewport layout

I rely on a custom viewport layout, sometimes 3 split left, sometimes 2 horizontal. It depends on the work I am doing and the scene I am working in.

No matter what I try, Maya resets to the quad 4 panel layout when reopening the file. Is this a known issue?

Hi,

I wrote some notes for this behavior, maybe it can help you?

By default, Maya saves panel layouts, view panel options and editor options in every scene file (.ma/.mb). This is saved as a attribute on a script node named uiConfigurationScriptNode.
* Preferences > UI Elements > Panel Configurations > When saving: Save panel layouts with file

When you open a scene file, by default this script node is executed and your Maya UI will be updated.
* Open Options > Execute script nodes
* Preferences > UI Elements > Panel Configurations > When opening: Restore saved layouts from file.
Please check the above options.

Are you suggesting disabling the config to restore the layout?

The preferences are set to save panel layout and restore saved layouts from file. It seems like one of ten times when I open a file it reverts to the single perspective / quad layout.

It's odd Patrick that is not working on your machine, If I save a 4 panel layout it will open that way, If only want the perspective, it will open that way also so it works here.

It's always good to give the system information, many Mac users have issues. Please provide more detail and version.

I held off on responding because it has been cooperating these last few days.

No crashes or anything that would cause Maya to lose the file info but when I open this file, which was open maybe 20 minutes ago, it's back the default 4 panel view.

I had it set to 2 panel split vertical.

It seems to happen quite randomly and it's been happening for years now. I'm not the only one, right?
